and Grandma Darcie

Austin is 5 weeks on Saturday. Friday afternoon Tony's parents were able to come see Austin, John had not been able to come down earlier with Carol after Austin was born. He was able to meet Austin for the first time this weekend.

Saturday we went to Buena Vista, GA to see my Dad, Darcie, Grandma and Grandpa Hindle. The also met Austin for the first time. We had a great visit and Austin was able to express every mood swing that he has for everyone to enjoy. :) We were happy to see everyone again.

Austin had his 1 month Dr. appt. yesterday. He now weighs in at 10lbs 1oz, is 22 inches long and his head is 38cm around. His measurements were in the 50th percentile all the way around. So he is doing really well! He also got a shot. Needless to say that he wasn't real impressed with the whole shot thing. The nurse stuck in the needle and it took about a second to register. Then Austin started screaming. It was one of those screams where you just scream and then you run out of breath but you're still trying to scream and can't take a breath in, so it looks like you are screaming but no sound is coming out. I had to prompt Austin to breath. He finally did and then continued to scream. Poor kid. I was proud of him though, he only screamed for a total of about 30-35 seconds, if that long. Then Jen fed him a little and he was out.

My parents will get here today. This will be the first time my dad has been able to see Austin.

When he's not making funny faces he's probably asleep. :-)

*We both got new phones and I'm still figuring out how mine works, so I apologize for the small picture size. I'll get it figured out. ;-))

Austin makes the cutest faces.

Here are a few pics of Austin's room. There are still a few things to hang on the walls, but for the most part, it's ready to go.

Definitely a Cardinals kid!!

Grandma got to visit and help me out for the two weeks after Austin was born.
She was a lifesaver! Thanks Carol!!

Mom and Steve were able to come down last weekend and meet Austin.

Austin and MiMi
So many new people to visit and see!
Austin is now 3 weeks old and still sleeps a lot . He is very hungry and is definitely making up for his low weight now! He eats a lot! Tony is able to help out at night with the feedings by giving him a bottle in the early shift (12am or 1am) Which means he usually has to come home from work and take a nap to make up for lack of sleep. : )
We are slowly getting by on our reduced hours of shut eye but enjoying every minute.
Austin is great to go out with, he went grocery shopping yesterday and slept all the way though. He has even made several visits to Brusters for Ice Cream, Levi's Baseball games, Joes for dinner and Church. He is becoming a regular traveler even at 3 weeks.

This past Tuesday we had another Pediatrician appointment for Austin. This time he weighed in at 8lbs 4ozs. So he had put on 11ozs in a week. Yay!! So now we won't see the Dr. again for 2 weeks until Austin's 1 month checkup.

Sorry Stace, but I don't have any of the pictures on this computer to post more. I promise that we will get some new pics up here!!

Well today Austin is 13 days old!

Today is also his original due date! He is growing so fast, his cheeks are filling out and he stretches his arms and his legs a lot more now. It is amazing to see him grow before my eyes!
Grandma Mimms has been helping out and keeping Austin happy so I can complete some homework from my Masters classes that I missed due to our early arrival.

Austin sleeps great, about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs before needing to be fed. He loves to just sit and watch what is going on just taking it all in. Max is finally coming around and has resolved to the fact that Austin is here to stay. Annie is a little mommy and follows whoever has him around.

We go back to the Dr. on Tuesday to have a final weight check. Last Tuesday he was 7lbs 9 ozs. So Tuesday we are hoping to here that he is finally back to his birth weight. If he is then we dont have to be back until his 1 mth check-up.

I will keep you posted on all this activities. Talk to you soon!!

Well, tomorrow I go back to work for the first time since Austin was born. That is going to be a very weird feeling. My mom is out here with us now though so that makes me feel some better. I am so grateful that she is here so Jen will have someone to help her with the baby, if needed, and to take her to appointments. Jen can't drive for 2 more weeks because of having a c-section. Work will not go by fast enough so that I can get back home and be with Austin. I know I have to work but I hate leaving him. Jen is a great mom though so I know he'll be fine. Just jealous that she gets to spend more time with him I guess. heh ;-)

Sleepy baby

Austin had a rough first night at home this past Monday. He was extremely constipated and his body was tensing up so bad and he wasn't just crying but was screaming his lungs out. That was the worst feeling, not being able to help. We saw the pediatrician on Tuesday morning and Austin's weight had dropped to 6lbs 14ozs. He recommended suplementing breast feeding with 1-2ozs of formula. Things got a lot better after that. We saw the dr. again today and the weight is back up to 7lbs 5ozs. Austin has been eating and sleeping much better and is now having regular bowel movements. It's strange how the sound of your baby dirtying his diaper can be the best sound in the world.

Austin's in the house, OH YEAH!

My First Bath

Well today Austin got his first bath. As you can see he wasn't too keen about it at first. He did good though and is now a clean baby.

Going Home!!

Well we are thinking that we may get to go home from the hospital today. We saw one of the doctors this morning and he gave us discharge information and said that Jen was good to go home today. We are still waiting to see the pediatrician though to make sure Austin is able to. If he is, we will probably leave today, although we could stay another day if we wanted. Austin is looking like he may be slightly jaundiced so they did bloodwork on him and we are waiting to hear about that as well.

Jen and I are ready to go home and be able to just relax but at the same time, we kinda like having a nursery full of nurses to take Austin to when we need a rest. Guess we have to go solo at some point though. ;-)

While we wait to see if we can go, here's another Austin pic for you all:

I found out that the hospital has wireless internet so I had my uncle bring my laptop to me. Now I can post some of the pictures from our 'real' digital camera. These will take you from right after Austin was born thru today.

It would only let me post 5 pics in one post, so here are the last four. Jen and I don't look our best in the last picture but Austin still looks really cute!

GO CARDS!!

Chillin out after just eating. He's fed twice now and still hasn't had a dirty diaper. I'm sure he's saving it all up for one big diaper changing ;-)

Our Baby Austin

We had our baby today, 2 weeks early. His name is Austin McCluer Mimms. He was born at 1:32pm est. and weighs 7lbs 11ozs and is 19 and 3/4 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing great! Dad is too, we're just all tired. More pics to come.

Wednesday, March 29, 2006

We may live in Atlanta now but this baby is definitely gonna be a Cardinals fan, if I have anything to say about it. ;-) We're gonna start him off early by having him wear a Cardinals beanie hat and a Cardinals sleeper home from the hospital. Here's what they look like.

I know the hat seems alot bigger than the sleeper, comparatively, it's just how the pictures look.

Here he is!!
Well not exactly 'here' yet. This is our little boy floating around enjoying the high life. On Saturday we went and had a 3d ultrasound, with a 4d video. I am amazed with what you can see! He has the cutest face! Well you don't have to take my word for it, take a look at the pictures! :)

8 Months
We are at 33 weeks now and the end is getting very close!!( or should I say the beginning!) We had a Dr. Appointment on Monday and I don't have Gestational Diabetes (Yea!) I really am not surprised, just glad they could rule that out. This little guy likes to keep us on our toes. When the Dr. measured my belly the baby was measuring normal this time, so much for the 3 weeks bigger. Well see though, this next appointment (March 15th) we will be having another ultrasound to see if he is still breach (he is because his head is in my ribs!) and to check his size again. I love seeing him move around and his development. We are making progress on the babies room I hope to post some pictures of the room this week. Keep up in your prayers, we miss you all.

Valentine's Day 2006
Tony surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of 24 roses sent to work. It took them several days to open up. This weekend I finally got an opportunity to take some pictures of them. I wanted to share them with you.

Wednesday, February 15, 2006

Here is the picture from our last ultra sound -- Notice the GA (Gestational Age) at the top says 30 weeks 2 days and the bottom says 33 weeks and 6 or 2 days!! I haven't figured out what all those acronyms mean yet and why there are 2 sets of data at the bottom right.

Tuesday, February 14, 2006

I can't believe that it has already been two weeks since our last post. Time flies by! We had another doctor's appointment yesterday. The baby is measuring big, three weeks big to be exact. It's kinda strange, the doctor said that his arms and legs are measuring normal size but his head and torso are measuring bigger than normal. He wants Jen to come back on Monday, Feb 20th for a 3 hour glucose test. They are wondering if her original glucose test was really a false negative and that she may actually have gestational diabetese. The doctor did not seem really concerned so we aren't really concerned at this point either. If the test results say that she does have it, then we will just follow whatever the doctor tells us to do. Anyway, pray for us that everything goes well for the rest of the pregnancy. We do have a couple more, new, ultrasound pictures and another video that I may try to get put up here on the blog.....that is when I have time inbetween 'getting ready for baby' projects. ;-)
