Blessings:
- rain held off
- days are starting to have a routine

- had coffee at a shop that I could order in English. (It was a chain but loved not fighting through an order!)
- Convincing LG he has to do one Starfall letter (educational app on his tablet) before Matchbox car tablet game.
- LG wanting to hold Austin’s hand rather than mine.
- Visiting some statues
- Visiting new friends from Austin Tx (met them at a zoo in Hungary)
- FaceTime with Tony
- ICE CREAM (every day… We have to blend in and be ‘locals’ right?!?)
- Silliness
- Smiles
- coloring
- cars
-After we walked the Sheen family (the new friends from Texas) back to the train station we took the metro back to our apartment. Marking a thing Austin wanted to do off our list.

ANSWERS TO PRAYERS

Today couldn't have gone better! Well... If Tony stayed that would have made it THE BEST DAY! (We miss him bunches already and it's only been day 1 of 14. But Austin is the best helper and cheer-me-upper I could ask for.)

I knew we had to leave when Tony did at 9am because the rain was coming and I would have been a crying mess if I didn't keep busy, so we headed to the park thinking it was going to be like most where we sat on the bench and watched but LG was ready to play and this continued all day!

Blessings to count:
- Had to wake up the family to stay on schedule :)

- Had a fabulous time at the park and even found a new playground and a zipline for Austin.

- Had fun playing games, coloring, eating, everything.

- Found a new shopping mall (actually the one Adam was trying to tell us about be we were directionally challenged)

-  Had ice cream (btw I think you are required to have ice cream every day here)

-Successfully went grocery shopping

- Austin- I cannot say  enough about this kid! He is amazing!

- LG growing to like us

- Lots of walking to help my emotional state :)

Continue praying for:

-my solo flight as a mom of 2 for 2 weeks
- Tony as I know he'd rather be here than working (gotta pay the bills)
- LG's disposition continues to favor us
- Austin's patience and understanding during this time
- the rain to go away ( 5 days have rain in the forecast ) so we can keep up our routine and not be stuck in a small apartment or walking to the mall in the rain.

Catching Up On The Last Couple Days

Today I am heading back to the U.S. God has been good and has given us encouraging moments each day that has made my leaving today, while still not easy, easier. Even just a bit ago while I'm still on the road to the airport, I got a text from Jen with some pictures of LG and Austin playing on the playground together. That helped a lot and is a big move forward for LG after the last few days.

So while traveling to the airport, I thought I'd get you all caught up on a couple posts we just didn't have time to get onto our blog here.

(From earlier this week)
ROUTINES
Lots of things remind LG of his foster family. As he’s learning about our family and our routines, he’s having to adjust to a new life.

The last couple days have been difficult but they are improving little by little. We do a lot of talking, playing (more like we play and LG cries watching), walking, and some movies.

From this point on we are counting our blessings:
-LG walked around town (rather than being carried. He didn’t want to but it was good exercise for him.
-He ate dinner.
- He told us he was ready for bed and went peacefully.
- We started our routine.
- We explored more of the city.
- Adam told us we were on the right track and gave us encouragement.
Continue praying for more great moments and less sadness.

(From last night)
LITTLE STEPS

We had a mixed day today, but overall it was a better day. Austin and Jen had worked on a schedule that we/they are going to try and follow each day to help LG get into a routine. He was still pretty down this morning but we started with the routine and after breakfast we went out for a walk down to one of the playgrounds we’ve located. He didn’t cry as much on the way there. Once there he didn’t want to play but did watch the other kids for awhile. He and Jen then took a walk around for a bit and then it was time to head back.

Once we got back he started to get upset again but we stuck to trying to keep to the schedule which meant a snack and then some coloring and/or working on English words/letters/colors. He cried through a lot of it but we pushed on. We had some lunch and then he and Jen went into the bedroom to play a little and the next thing I know they are playing and having a good time. He started playing with his Kindle tablet and loves this hot wheels game that is on there. Things were starting to turn around but then it was almost like someone flipped a switch and he was looking sad again. I think he was just getting tired. Jen went to put him down for a nap but he was not happy about that. There was much crying and screaming but finally he fell asleep…and slept for at least and hour and a half…maybe almost 2 hours.

Once he got up we walked to a mall that is not far away. He did really well and didn’t really cry at all. After we walked around the mall for a bit we stopped in the food court and got….what else, Austin’s favorite, McDonalds. Well, turns out LG likes Mickey D’s himself. On the walk back home we stopped and got some ice cream and watched a parade.

Back in the apartment he started to get sad again and we tried watching one of the Ice Age movies but he kept crying during it. Jen took him into the bedroom again and low and behold, again Jen started playing and having fun and finally LG joined in, after awhile jumped back on the tablet and was playing hot wheels. He even got himself comfortable on a chair in the living room, reclining sideways in the chair with his legs hanging over one of the arms, while playing. The rest of the evening went really well and he even helped give himself a shower before bed. Jen put him to bed and he fell asleep pretty quickly with no fuss but with the normal little kid stalling. ;-) Jen said when he fell asleep he was holding the police car we bought him at the mall today though.

This was also a day for Austin to learn how to do a few things to help Jen while I’m gone. Taught him how to work the washing machine here so he can get loads started for Jen if she is having to deal with a melt down or something. He also learned how to hang the clothes afterwards.

So ups and downs today but overall it was a good day. Please pray for tomorrow (now today) as I leave. I’m really concerned it may set him back a little because now here’s another person who is “disappearing” from his life that he is just getting to trust. He doesn’t understand that I’ll be coming back. We are going to try to video chat, hopefully at least once a day so he can still see me. Pray for continued successes with LG and just for added strength and patience for Jen and Austin during the 2 weeks I’m away.

(As I was finishing this up last night, there was a fireworks display going on outside. We think it had to do with a festival that went with the parade I mentioned earlier. It was pretty cool and luckily it didn't wake up LG!)

TODAY IS THE DAY!!

We have our boy and are heading to our new apartment for the next part of our journey. The paper work took about 1 ½ hrs but LG in our arms took 2 minutes. Our only regret is that we didn’t get a picture of all of us. Foster family and us together. We didn’t expect it to go that fast. It was for the best but sad we didn’t get that memory for him. The gentleman at the local government building was very nice as we were getting all the paperwork done. Currently there is what sounds like a salary dispute between the birth certificate office and the Hungarian government that has been causing some issues with being able to get official birth certificates quickly. Be in prayer that they are able to start working together so there isn’t a delay for us when it’s time.

Sorry…we started this yesterday (Tuesday) and are finishing up this post today (Wednesday). The trip to our apartment took around an hour or so and LG slept a good portion of it, which I think was good as he was pretty upset with everything. Once we arrived, George was here to meet us. We got settled in to the apartment and then discovered that the internet wasn’t working. Adam and George tried to mess with it but couldn’t get it going. Then they made a phone call and it sounded like George was getting pretty upset with someone on the phone. A couple of times I think, with a grin on his face, Adam had to calm him down. They had a person come out but he wasn’t able to get it to work either. Finally it was decided that we would use a T-Mobile MiFi type device until today when they could have someone come out and fix it. Once they left we started getting settled into the apartment and then went for a walk to a playground. LG didn’t really want to do too much at the playground but did like the one ride that the kids stand/or sit on and then you spin it around.

We also played in the apartment and broke out a Lego Duplo set we had purchased for LG as well as some Play-Dough. There were a lot of mixed emotions yesterday (and still today) for him as well as the fact that he isn’t feeling well. He’s still has had a little bit of a temperature as well. We are giving him his medicine but between the temp and the emotions it’s been a little rough. He will seem fine and then start crying. It’s understandable as it’s the first few days of being away from his foster family.

We spent about 30 mins trying to figure out the washing machine here but we got it and have gotten a couple small loads done. Hey…it’s the little things right? Also last night I was trying to plug in our power converter so we could charge our phones, laptops, etc. and I knocked out the power to the apartment. I called Adam and he said he’d be right over in about 15 mins. He arrived and he had his girlfriend with him. I felt horrible but he and his girlfriend were very nice and understanding and Adam made sure to let us know he was available 24 hours if we needed anything.  He showed me where the breakers are and we got it working. Now though, if I do it again, I’ll know where to look! ;-) He also helped us with the gas for the stove. It had been turned off outside. Finally with everything worked out, we were able to settle in and finish off the night. LG did not want to put on his pjs or go to bed. I held him and he essentially cried himself to sleep while I was holding him. I then laid him in the bed and we all got ready for bed ourselves. Jen ended up sleeping with LG and Austin and I slept in the other room on the futon. This morning, Jen said that LG tossed and turned and kicked like Austin used to. There have been more emotions this morning and we thought maybe watching a movie, Rio with the colorful birds, may distract him. Well, instead he fell asleep again while I was holding him during the movie and slept for just about the whole thing.

Finally decided we probably needed to get him outside so Jen, Austin, and LG have gone for a walk while I wait for Adam to come to hopefully get the internet working in the house. Thank goodness for the MiFi device for now!

Please understand if we aren’t able to post as regularly as we had been. These next few days are going to be pretty hard for all of us as we all still get adjusted to each other and there is no timetable for this. No set amount of time that it’s supposed to take. Obviously none of us wants him to cry but he needs to process his grief and we want him to. I’ll be honest that it’s getting harder for me as it gets closer to time for me to travel back to the states. I feel guilty leaving them all here but we all understand and are just hoping that maybe LG starts to feel better overall by the time I need to leave (still knowing that there is no timetable…just hoping). Here is what I would ask that you pray for: strength for all of us, comfort for LG both emotionally and with whatever it is that is making him not feel well, compassion for each other even when nerves get frayed, that we are able to give Austin the mom and dad time that he needs as we try to help LG. He is 10 but he still needs mom and dad and we are mindful of that. Really, for an extra measure of God’s love and blessing on our family.

Day 7: A DAY AT THE POOL *and a tour of the city

Today was another beautiful weather day. We had George with us today, giving Adam a break. When we got to the foster home LG DID NOT want to leave and was very upset. Luckily we were headed for an indoor pool only a few miles away. We got there and headed for the locker rooms to get changed. I put LG into the swim trunks we bought for him but he was not too happy about it. We think he may be more used to European style swim trunks and that the mesh inside the ones we brought were bothering him. We finished changing and headed out to the pool. They had a children’s pool with a small slide and some plastic water creatures that kids could sit/play on. We started to get in but LG DID NOT like it when I went to sit down in the pool while holding him and the water started touching his feet. We had been told that he prefers showers to baths so we thought that may have something to do with it but George also said that he didn’t think that LG had been in a pool before. We thought maybe after some time he would warm up to it but that never really happened. He did enjoy watching Austin slide down the slide and blow bubbles in the water. He also played with a little watering can filling it up with Jen and pouring it out. Jen and I then took turns walking him around the outdoor pool which he seemed to enjoy. We also met a lady, who we think was German but did seem to know the language here. She saw how LG was upset about the water and tried her best to talk with him and help relax but she didn’t have much luck either.
Finally we decided to call it and go get some lunch. He still wasn’t too happy and only ate 1 bite. After lunch, Jen gave Austin and LG some change to use in a bouncy ball machine and LG did seem pretty happy about the bouncy ball he got. We all piled into the van and headed back to his foster parents’ house. We had fun in the car playing. He’d “hide” the bouncy ball and we would wonder where it went. Then he would show us the ball and we would be very surprised. Once we got back he very proudly showed his foster mom the ball. When we got back in the van to leave, LG started crying and calling for “Momma.” The last couple of days have gone that way. In the morning he doesn’t want to leave and in the afternoon he wants to come with us. He knows some things are changing and he is just not sure what is going on.

On our way back to the city we have been staying in, we were able to briefly stop at the Lego factory (one of 6 in the world) and take a few pictures. Then once we were back to the hotel we headed out on a tour of the city center. Jen had discovered a mobile app that lets you download walking tours of different cities. You download the info for the city you are wanting to tour and then it shows you a map with the points of interest. You follow the map using your phone’s GPS and as you get near the points of interest the app starts playing the tour guide messages and shows images of the item. The app is called PocketGuide. Some cities are free while others do cost some money. We really enjoyed the tour we took. It was just about 3km, had 23 stops and took just around an hour and a half.

Tomorrow the foster family is bringing LG to the government building and we are meeting there to sign the temporary guardianship papers and then we will be heading to the next city where we will be living, with LG, in an apartment until we head to the embassy for the last time and then back home to the U.S. We also found out that we can’t go to the U.S. Embassy for the first time until June 28th because the person we need to see is on vacation for 2 weeks…..of course. So it is looking like I (Tony) will be flying back out here around the 25th or 26th and will stay until we get to go home. We have an idea of when that may be but it isn’t confirmed yet.
Please pray for the best day possible tomorrow. I think it is going to be very emotional and difficult for all involved. Also pray for our time in this new city as LG gets adjusted to a new full time family and we get adjusted to new schedules and a 24/7 life with a 4th member of our family.

Day 6: CHILLING DAY

We arrived to pick up LG( Little Guy) planning on going to an indoor pool and found out that that he'd had a fever the night before and that one of the other children had had it days prior. The foster mom had given LG Ibuprofen but he hadn't slept well and didn't really want to go. So Adam suggested instead of the pool we just go back to our hotel and if he was feeling up to it, we could go to the park.

We got in the van and LG immediately put his arm up (he does this when he doesn't want to see us) and in about 10 min he started falling asleep. He slept almost the whole 1 1/2 hr drive and at the end he began crying and even when we got out of the van he was still very upset. We arrived in our room and he sat in Tony's lap and fell asleep again. About 1PM we gave him some more ibuprofen and fell back a sleep for a bit more.

When he woke up he was still not his smiling self but he wasn't crying. He told us he had to go to the bathroom and we went in there. Next thing I know we were laughing as the water flushed and the shower was turned on and off. Then he saw our toothbrushes and decided he wanted to brush his teeth, so I got out his new toothbrush that we brought him and he wanted to brush after every time he ate something. :)

After that we were good to go! He colored, played trains, played with his Kindle, ate grapes, apples, goldfish and Nutella-to-go sticks.

We took a walk in town but soon he became tired (still not feeling well), soon it was time to bring him home. LG was tired but like yesterday he didn't fall asleep. Toward the end of the drive he really wanted to get home. We got there and said good-byes. As the door shut LG wanted to come back in the van. :)

Tomorrow is our last day 'visiting' please pray LG is feeling better and that he is eager to spend time with us.

Day 5: A TRIP TO THE ZOO

We had great weather today so Adam decided we should go to the Zoo. After we picked up LG (Little Guy) he fell asleep quickly in the van and slept almost the whole way there. We got our tickets, rented a wagon to pull LG in and we were off!

Right inside we spotted a smushed "penny" machine. Austin collects smushed pennies so we thought this would be a great addition. Then we actually headed off to see the animals. LG was pretty enthralled with all the different animals. We stopped and watched an elephant spray and splash water all over itself. I think LG could have watched him all day.

He did go into the petting zoo with Jen and pet a couple of goats. There were llamas there too (not in the petting zoo) and one of them stuck his head over thinking LG was going to feed him. LG hadn’t been paying attention and then turned his head and there was this llama face in his. It definitely startled him but he handled it well. We thought it was odd seeing some animals from the U.S. in a zoo that we see all over the place (or at least not very often in zoos) such as Canadian geese, raccoons, and steers to name a few.

Someone had dropped a Star Wars ball cap into the baboon exhibit. One little baboon found it and stuck it on his head. Once, he threw it into the water, then grabbed it and started drinking the water out of it. Crazy little guy.

After the zoo we grabbed lunch and headed to a playground just down the street. Adam had said the place we were getting lunch had really good pizza…problem was, we got there and they were out of pizza. So LG and I had cheeseburgers, Austin had a hot dog, and Jen had a “cheese” gyro that had chicken and also ketchup. The ketchup was a surprise. The playground was fun and LG had a blast on the swings. It was pretty much the only thing he wanted to do. At the very end of our time he finally went on the big climbing and sliding play place in the middle. Austin did the zip line a few times.

Finally it was time to head back. This time LG didn’t sleep at all. He was in the “so tired that he was doing anything he could to stay awake stage.” Needless to say he was acting pretty loopy at the end. I kind of felt bad dropping him off with his foster parents in that state.
Today was a really good day. For me it was the first day that we actually felt like a "normal" family....whatever that actually means. Tomorrow we are headed to an indoor pool. Should be a blast! Thank you for your support and prayers and we continue to ask for them!

Day 4: RAINY DAY INDOOR FUN

Austin 'lounging' on the slide :)

Today it rained again so Adam made plans for us to do some indoor activities. It is so nice having someone tell us ‘we’re going to do this and then this’. It sounds weird but it’s one less thing we have to think about.
The car ride is really hard for our little guy. It is so far to drive that it becomes hard for him to keep his mind off missing his foster family and wondering what in the world is going on! My heart breaks when he gets that sad look in his face and covers his eyes so he doesn’t have to look at Tony or I.

Today we went to another play place (this one in a mall). This one was smaller but had some different things to entertain the kids. He enjoyed a musical book he found and he likes toys and games that when you push a button they do something.

After the play place we rode several escalators to the top of the mall to have lunch. We decided on one place and the woman behind the counter was very willing to try and wrestle down our English order. She seemed very happy with her self that she accomplished the task. We were very happy too (ordering food is by far the hardest thing we do every day). After each order she would ask (in native language) what else. When we said 'nothing’ she said 'Game over?’, Tony replied 'Game over!’ It was pretty funny.
We bought Little Guy (LG) noodles that looked like Mac N Cheese, when we got to the table he didn’t seem

so interested, Tony offered him some pork with lots of seasons and rice. He was all about it! So we know 'go big or go home’ on LG's meals. Austin had a plain hot dog 😉.
Adam suggested that after playing and lunch we walk to our hotel where LG could take a nap. He was excited to be in the hotel room and see everything but no nap was going to happen (I had little hope in the first place) but we had fun playing and hanging out.
Today he seemed more interested in the iPad/phone so I am hoping that will help with the car rides.

We left the hotel and we headed to get LG's photo taken for his passport, visa, and medical documents. We will need these at the US Embassy  next week.

We weren’t in the car 5 minutes and LG was sound a sleep.

Praying tomorrow goes smoothly as well.

Days 2 and 3 With Our Little Boy

Here is a recap of the last couple of days. We feel very blessed that they have gone very well. We wish we had more pictures that we could share on this blog but currently that is still not possible. As soon as we can, we will put more pictures up.

Day 2: TRIP TO THE PARK

This morning we arrived at his house and spent some time there playing with him and visiting. Soon we were given permission to go to a private playground that was owned by a neighbor at a event center (wedding/party’s). He was really excited to ride in the car. We were able to play on the playground together as a family and just give us some time the four of us. He was really happy about the playground and was smiling ear to ear for quite a while.

After a while the emotions of the day caught up with him and the tears flowed for a bit. He allowed Tony to comfort him and Austin did his best to cheer him up. We decided to get the flying airplanes and bubbles out to play. He enjoyed that for a while, but soon he was pretty tired.

We finished our outing with a picnic lunch and a walk around the fountain where we got our first family photo! Adam said that it was a good sign that he ate lunch with us because many children do not except the adopting family's food this soon.

He is a very compliant little boy however there are some words that even Adam does not know what he is trying to say (made up kid words). But overall a great 2nd day! When Adam asked if he wanted to come tomorrow to spend the day he said yes. Please pray for tomorrow. He will be spending the day with us here near our hotel. It will be a long day for him as he still continues to take naps.

Day 3: DAY AT THE PLAYHOUSE

Today was another really good day. We went and picked him up from his foster family’s home and headed back to the city where we are staying (over an hour drive) to go to an indoor playground. He was really excited to ride in the van but after awhile started to get sad and would cry. Adam (the gentleman that is working with us and helping translate) talked with him and when he told him we were getting close he perked up and was ready to go. We got inside and he was very excited. He really liked being pushed around in the little tike cars and crawling through and sliding down into the ball pit. A crowd of about 20 kids came in after we were there for a bit and we weren’t sure how he would handle it but he did great! Austin also did great as a big brother, climbing and sliding with him and making sure he was ok around all the other kids.

We stayed at the playground for about 2 hours and then headed to a mall food court for lunch. He definitely has an appetite. He ate a whole plate of spaghetti that would have been plenty for me or Jen. We then had an ice cream cone and rode a little train that was in the mall. After that, we all piled back into the van and headed back to the foster family’s house. On the ride back, he fell asleep and slept most of the way. Once we arrived, he seemed to be done with us for awhile and would kinda cling to his foster parents. We think he was really just still not fully awake from his car ride. Once he was totally awake we all went outside and played in the yard with all the kids, kicking and bouncing balls and had a good time.

As we got ready to leave he gave both Jen and I really big hugs and even started to head back to the van with us to get in. Adam asked him if he wanted to go with us again tomorrow and he nodded and told him, “Yes!” It was a very nice end to a really great day.

Adoption Here We Come!

So Saturday, May 28th we left Atlanta and we arrived Sunday morning in eastern Europe. Unfortunately we still can't post publicly yet about where our adoption is happening. All our bags arrived as well and that’s almost more of a miracle. We got to the gate about 12:30ish or about 6:30am EST. After we got to our hotel, we rested for a bit and then went for a walk to find someplace to eat. We had already told Austin that he would have to be up for trying some new foods over the next month or 2. But lucky for him we came across a McDonald’s and he got himself a Happy Meal while we found this neat little Hummus Bar. It was pretty good. We then just hung out in our hotel room and ended up crashing around 5:30pm.

Yesterday was a travel day. After our driver picked us up from the hotel at check out we were taken to a strip mall where we walked around the shops, purchased some tennis shoes, movies, drinks, and of course chocolates! At 3 it was time to pick up one of the gentlemen, George, who is helping us during our stay, from the airport. Then we started the 3 hr drive to the city where the little boy we are adopting is. During the drive a lot of the scenery reminded us very much of the Midwest in the U.S with the corn fields, round hay bales, etc. We arrived in on a beautiful evening, and got checked in to our new "home"/hotel for a week and then headed to find some dinner. Most shops close at 5 but restaurants were open. After dinner we walked around and explored the square that we will be staying in. We were very excited and nervous about meeting the little boy we are adopting the next day.

Today, we woke up at 7 got ready and headed to breakfast. We were all pretty nervous not knowing how today would go. At 8:45 Adam, the other gentleman helping us, met us downstairs and we headed to meet with the Social Worker team that has been working with our new son. Everyone was very friendly and eager to answer any questions we might have and let us know they were here to support us. This was very comforting knowing we have a team here and in the US helping our family be a success.

The social worker rode with us the hour-ish drive to the foster family’s home. With each turn we felt more and more nervous and excited. We finally arrived and we had no clue how this would go. Adam said that we would only stay about 1-2 hrs to slowly adjust the little boy to us and our faces. Then we would slowly increase our time together each day to help the transition. So here we are getting out of the car, hearts beating out of our chests. The foster mom opens that gate and our new son runs out and jumps in my arms saying Momma (tears)! That smile, those happy eyes! I hand him over to Tony, Poppa, and he calls to him. He is introduced to Austin and both really don’t know what to make of each other. They hug and all is well. Then he runs off to show us around the yard and we are introduced to the foster mother.

He enjoyed the car we gave him and was fascinated by Austin's light up shoes and Fitbit. He tried them both on. :)

He is obviously still trying to figure things out, but he is doing a great job. We enjoyed playing ball, rocks, soccer, and scooters. We also had a cake and juice for a dessert and a very filling lunch all made by the foster mother. It truly was a feast. Our new little boy is a great eater and enjoying his soup with noodles, carrots, and meat. Adam asked him if he wanted us to come back tomorrow he said yes. Adam even got him to say his first English word ‘bye-bye’ as we were leaving.
Please keep in mind that while we want to post pictures, we still can't post any that will show our new son or will show where we are....yet. Thanks for understanding!

It was truly a great day and we feel it was such a gift from God to experience this journey.

Here we go! Time to take flight!

Gods amazing grace and love have brought us to this moment! May 28th we will leave to start the new journey to meet our son! Very soon we will become a family of 4!!! God is good- all the time!

Friday we received to go ahead to purchase tickets. This means that our immigration I-800 will continue through the process smoothly and no additional information will be needed from us. Saturday and Sunday Tony started researching options for tickets and we found a wonderful organization- http://www.adoptionairfare.com/. They helped us find the best plan and price for our needs. It was nice to not have to stress about this part of the journey!

I also finished my last paid project that has helped fund our adoption! Thank you ALL for purchasing my crafts to support our adoption. Thank you to all those who supported us though prayer fundraisers, and donating to Promise686 matching grant. EVERY bit helped! Every penny mattered, EVERY prayer mattered, EVERY donation mattered, EVERY offer to help mattered! We love each of you!

So you might be wondering what happens next and when will we start posting pictures of this cute little boy!?!?!

  • 1- General Itinerary
Leave Atlanta on May 28th arrive May 29th in our little boys country.
Head to the area we need to be in
Arrive at Foster home on May 31st for 1st of 7-9 days on in home bonding
Receive Temporary guardianship
We all will go to our apartment where we will stay the remainder of our trip
Toward the end of our trip we will head to the capital to finalize passport, visa, etc for our little guy.
Head home!
All of this will happen in 6-8 weeks. so we are not sure the exact dates each will happen,

  • 2- Pictures and Country?
We have been told that the country we are adopting from works much like the U.S. as far as privacy of the child in foster care. We cannot post pictures of him until he is legally ours. We have also been encouraged to keep the country out of our posts as they also frown upon publicity on their country's process (this is a public blog and is searchable on the internet). So I PROMISE we will get pictures out there just not as fast as we'd like!

Please continue to pray for :

-our travel
-finalizing paper work
-our time in country
-transition for our boys
-the foster family

Referral has been received!

Thank you for all your payers! We have finally received our referral!

You might be confused about this post.. wait... what was the post about at the end of March? Right?!? Well our paperwork was received in country and it appears that the gentleman who needed to sign the actual referral (this is the country approving us to adopt our little boy) was in the hospital and finally this past Friday was able to sign our document. Our document is now on its way to the country's capital for its official seal of approval. This means we should be traveling in approx 4ish weeks!

God as seen us through, and made us lean into him, focus on his goodness, love, and care. He has really spoken to me (Jennifer) though these two songs on auto play as loud as my 17 year old CRV speakers can take. Lauren Daigle's Trust in You and Casting Crowns Just Be Held. I hope they bring you comfort in a time of drought. It has been a long couple of months but I am learning that even in the waiting there are things to learn.

Next step is to get the document approved, translated, and attached with our Immigration 800 Application.

Please pray:

-for God's peace over the next month

-that the gathering of all the paperwork (referral and immigration) goes quickly.

-over our little guy as he waits

-over his foster family

-for preparation for his arrival

-our unknown travel schedule
