We are NOW a family of 4

Friday, we started our day quite early, 5:45. Typically we get up around 8ish. Kornell was ready to pick us up around 6:15 and we were on our way to Nyiregyhaza by 6:30am!

Nyiregyhaza is approximately an hour away from our apartment in Miskolc. So the boys settled in with iPad and kindle and I enjoyed the sunflower farms, doesn't get much more beautiful that a bright yellow field of sunflowers!

Once in Nyiregyhaza we went to the adoption office which was across the street from our old hotel. It was nice to see the place again.

As with all big decisions there is always some nervousness to it. We both think about our life, Elemér's life, and Austin's life. But ultimately we look at God's favor on us and the path that we feel called to be on in this short life on earth.

We headed to the office with our translator, Rita and Elemér's Social worker, Éva. Austin and Elemér colored while we talked to the Director about Elemér, our stay and what we did during our 6 week stay in here Hungary.
We signed several papers (not as many as a mortgage/house closing) and were officially a family of 4!!

Heading out it was decided that we need to get to Budapest as quickly as possible to finalize Elemér's passport. So through McDs we go (Austin 👍🏻: Jen 👎🏻).  Budapest from Nyiregyhaza is approximately 2 hr drive. Thankfully Elemér took a nap.

We headed straight for the passport office. That took about 1 1/2 hours.

Paperwork done, Tony was going to pick it up in the morning.
It was nice to have the whole entourage with us (George, Kornell, Rita, and Adam!). Our support in country has been amazing, I don't know how others without this support do it!

Once at the hotel, Millennium Court, Marriot Executive Apartments, we settled in then hit the town for exploring and food!

First stop- our hotel is located around the corner from Vaci Street.

Váci Street is the most renowned pedestrian shopping street of Budapest. It stretches to a little more than a mile between Vörösmarty Square and the Great Market Hall. Thankfully, the pedestrian underpass at its busy crossing with Kossuth Lajos Street by the Elizabeth Bridge, which once cut Váci Street in half, has been replaced by a signal-controlled crossing, providing a major improvement to the "user experience". The northern half of the street is lined with fashion stores, while the southern half is better known for its gift shops and its bistros of slightly questionable reputation. (Via www.welovebudapest.com)  personal note: we found both sides to be pleasant, however I am always more aware in big cities,

Soon we found ourselves at Szabadság híd (bridge). Lucky for us the bridge entrance was under construction so no vehicles were able to travel on the bridge. The people took over and enjoyed the the views and climbed the gables.

After checking Trip Advisor I realized that the Cave Church was just over the bridge, so we headed over. Unfortunately tours had ended for the day and we decided to come back the next day.

We headed back over the road down Vaci Street and across from our hotel to have a burger at Lucky 7, a top rated restaurant on Trip Advisor. Austin said it was the best burger he ever had. I had the 'veggie burger which was grilled vegetables on a yummy bun with sauce. Elemér had a Hungarian chicken and potatoes, and Tony had The Luck 7 burger. They had real full size  ice... But little cups. It was a great first meal in Budapest!

Then we were off to bed. We were all exhausted and I was looking forward to the real bed I was sleeping in!!!

God has been good to us and we are thankful!

“Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy."
Psalms 68:5-6 NLT
